IAAC and Sónar+D festival join forces to showcase the latest advances in interaction technology. PlayBall! and Augmented Senses projects, developed by Master in Advanced Interaction (MAI) students, will be exhibited from 13 to 15 June at the festival.

IAAC presents at the Sónar+D 2018 MarketLab, PlayBall! and Augmented Senses, two projects that combine innovation and creativity resulting from the work of the students of the 2017-2018 edition of the Master in Advanced Interaction (MAI). The Sónar+D congress is the international event of digital transformation and creative industries that has been held in Barcelona since 2012 and plays a complementary role in the overall programme of activities at Sónar Festival between 13 and 16 June.

In this sixth edition of Sonar +D, IAAC participates with the exhibition of projects such as PlayBall!, an interactive installation developed for the Festival Llum BCN 2018 where students reinterpret the notion of light through the lens of design and interaction creating a playful system where many participants can play together to create a visual and auditory experience.

Students in Advanced Interaction will also present Augmented Senses. A collection of projects whose peculiarity lies in the ability of wearable technology to act as an interface to enhance our relationship with nature and interact with it in a newer way. Both works are an example, already in expansion, of the fusion of human beings with technology to increase sensory capabilities.

The projects will be exhibited in the Sónar+D Market Lab: a space not only for inspiration, but also for exhibition and contact with investors, where technology companies, universities and creative laboratories will exhibit their novelties and prototypes. The projects developed in the Master in Advanced Interaction are based on advances in science, engineering and art, through the development of software and hardware. All of them consist of a solid theoretical base that questions how technology can increase our ability to interact with the environment as well as practice through the tools offered by the IAAC’s digital manufacturing laboratory.
